Three cars were involved in a collision down Albert Road at 8:15 PM Friday 19th January.
The Vauxhall Astra was going towards town when another vehicle came out from the Esso garage and rammed into its side. The driver of the Astra lost control and ended up on the wrong side of the road, colliding with a Volkswagen Golf.
The other car that had caused the accident immediately (and illegally) left the scene before any of the occupants of the other two vehicles got out.
The passenger of the Astra phoned police who arrived at 8:30PM and closed the outbound lane of Albert road.
There were two people in the Astra and three in the Golf, all suffered chest and neck pains. Albert road was one way only until around 10PM after the cars had been removed. The Astra was taken away by Karwowski Motors and is being held on request from the police as it could contain evidence that would help identify the third car.
At around 10:20PM, the two people in the Astra were taken to A&E with chest and neck pains and were seen by a doctor three hours later. Both cars are most likely to be written off.
The callous driver of the car that caused the accident did not stop. They drove away. Their car was described as a dark colour, not a large car, maybe a metro .It will have sustained some damage to the front.
